Divorced? Take a divorce cruise to Bahamas or Baja Mexico to meet girls or single guys. These singles cruise specials may be a romantic way to make friends.

Here's a new way to meet people who have also been divorced: Take a divorce cruise to the Bahamas or to Baja Mexico. This might be a good way to make friends and, possibly, to find romance.

Why Divorce Cruises?

Everything is right there on board. Cruise ships always have a lot of fun dance clubs and are great for women who like to dance but don’t have a partner. Dance opportunities on most ships:

  • Country line dancing
  • Salsa line dancing
  • Line dancing lessons
  • Discos
  • Live music

Cruises are a fun way to get out into the sun and have a good time. Room service is free on most ships. Cruising can be a blast.

Single Divorce Cruise Specials to Bahamas

The Cruise.com website reads, “Divorced? Come on a party cruise.”

Cruise.com is having the first ever cruise for divorced singles. There are three sailings which will have parties, activities, and prizes for those signed up for the divorce cruise special.

There are two sailings to the Bahamas: October 16th, 2009, and December 18th, 2009. For people on the West Coast, there is one sailing to Mexico on November 16th, 2009.

Travelers should find a pal to share the room and keep costs down. Mention the code “Divorcees Have More Fun” when booking with a travel agent. Some agents will try to match up cruisers with a roommate.

Some Things Singles Should Know About Cruises

There are several different types of cabins, with the cheapest being an interior room (with no balcony or view). Cabins are much smaller than similar hotel rooms.

One of the things that makes cruising a good deal is that all of the food is included, usually including room service.

What will cost extra:

  • Flight to city of departure (Miami or San Diego)
  • Tips will usually run about $10 per day, and will be added onto final bill.
  • Alcoholic beverages
  • Some non-alcoholic beverages like soda or bottled water
  • Shore excursions (day trips), which can really add up
  • Spa visits
  • Gambling
  • Various classes

There are, however, a lot of things for singles to do onboard which have no extra charge. Vacationers can hang out at the pool, get involved in games, listen to music or dance while drinking tap water, and meet new friends at meals or while exercising (walking) on the promenade deck.

Hints for Cruising:

  • Try to book excursions online before the cruise. The travel agent will explain how this is done.
  • Avoid using a local taxi to tour a port unless familiar with the area. Travel agents may be able to help.

If being matched up with a roommate (cabin mate) try to find out about the other person. Ask about compatibility concerning:

  • Age
  • Daily routines – early riser or night owl?
  • Heavy partier?
  • Heavy smoker or drinker?

When disembarking in a port, know exactly when the ship sails and be back before that time. A passenger must pay his or her own way to the next port of call if the ship sails off without him or her.

Additional details to inquire about:

  • Ask the agent about passports and travel insurance.
  • Find out about dress codes.
  • Toiletries and some over-the-counter medications can be purchased on most ships, but will be expensive.

Ship board internet is very expensive, so get a pre paid phone card to use in port (cell phones usually won’t work at sea) or look for an internet café in port.

Bring a seasickness patch or bring seasickness wrist bands if unsure about motion. And, don’t forget the sun hat.
